Fujinoki Burial Mound

Tourist attractions

A large circular burial mound with a diameter of 48m. It is estimated to have been built in the latter half of the 6th century. Two excavations were conducted in 1985 and 1988, and red-painted house-shaped sarcophagus, earthenware, elaborate and luxurious gold and bronze horse gear (important cultural property) were excavated.
In the investigation in 1988, two burials were confirmed in the sarcophagus. There are various theories about the burial person, such as Mr. Zen and Emperor Susyun. The excavated items have been designated as an important cultural property and can now be seen at the Museum, Archaeological Institute of Kashihara.
